Work With Us

Ahimsa is an integrated Domestic Abuse Service and a longstanding charity that has run for over 28  years in the city of Plymouth. The main aim of Ahimsa is to inspire, facilitate and support non-violent and loving relationships, so as to enhance the wellbeing of all, whether the families are together or separated.

Ahimsa is a trauma informed, collaborative, mindful organisation, which prioritises the wellbeing and development of our team. We support individuals to develop their skills, expertise and specialism within their roles and place value on each team member and their contribution to the organisation. As a small charity with approximately 20 team members, we encourage creativity and responsivity within your role, enabling the opportunity for your voice and vision to be heard.

Ahimsa has a high priority to draw on workers that are skilled, experienced and well trained in the field of domestic abuse and therapeutic skills, some of whom have been with the charity for many years. It is also places a high value on ensuring that all its workers have a personal commitment to embodying the principles values and ethos of the work that they do.

Vacancies:

Ahimsa High Risk High Harm currently have two vacancies in Behaviour Change:

Ahimsa is part of a new domestic abuse partnership in Plymouth –  alongside @First Light, @Bridges Outcomes Partnerships and @Barnado’s – and we’re recruiting two Behaviour Change Practitioners to deliver the behaviour change element.

The work is one-to-one, face-to-face, with Plymouth’s highest-risk perpetrators. You’ll proactively secure engagement, work to shift attitudes and behaviour, and coordinate with MATAC partners and IDVAs at First Light to make sure the right interventions are happening at the right time. It’s intensive case management with a behaviour change focus – up to six months per person, with victim safety running through everything.

It’s complex work. Not everyone can do it. But if you can hold compassion and accountability at the same time – compassionate, not collusive – and you believe that behaviour change and breaking the cycle of domestic abuse is possible, we want to hear from you.

Salary: £29,120. Full time. 2-year contract. Plymouth-based.
Clinical supervision, wellbeing days, genuine development and a good team around you.

Email enquiries@ahimsa.org.uk for the JD and person spec.
Closing date 12 noon, 26th March.

Please share if you know someone who’d be great. 🙏
