Professionals

Ahimsa work closely within a multi-agency context, attending the Plymouth MARAC and working closely with Plymouth City Council, Police and Social Services. The High Risk High Harm service is commissioned and funded by Plymouth City Council.

Individuals who are not engaged with these bodies are required to make a self-referral by either calling or emailing us.

High Risk, High Harm (HRHH)

Ahimsa have partnered with the Plymouth Moonstone team to deliver the HRHH project.  The team comprises of Ahimsa, Devon and Cornwall Police and Plymouth Domestic Abuse Service.  The aim of the HRHH team is to motivate and engage individuals to recognise and explore their abusive behaviours.  The programme can also provide a level of support for individuals with complex needs, such as drug and alcohol dependency or housing issues.  The voice of the survivor remains central to our work.

Referral Pathway: MARAC, Police, Probation, other agencies with consent such as Drug and Alcohol Services, Health and Mental Health agencies, Social Services (both Adult and Children Social Care).

We are unable to support individuals if:

They have been sentenced to a Community Order with a Building Better Relationships requirement.

They are on bail or going through the court process for any domestic abuse related offence.

Multi-Agency Tasking and Co-ordination (MATAC)

Ahimsa, in Partnership with Safer Communities Plymouth, Plymouth City Council, Devon and Cornwall Probation Service, and Devon and Cornwall Police, and have developed a multi-agency tasking and co-ordination (MATAC) approach to addressing domestic abuse. This new and exciting pilot is a ‘perpetrator’-focused partnership approach, and the key aims of this include the prevention of further domestic abuse related offending, the improvement of victim safety and changing abusive behaviours.

MATAC can support those who harm to explore and address their abusive behaviours, and the behavioural change element of MATAC, is conducted in a compassionate and non-judgemental manner, keeping in line with the Ahimsa ethos. MATAC can also provide a level of support for individuals with complex needs, such as drug and alcohol dependency or housing issues. The voice of the survivor remains central to our work.

Referral Pathway: MARAC, Police, Probation, other agencies with consent such as Drug and Alcohol Services, Health and Mental Health agencies, and Social Services (both Adult and Children Social Care).

MATAC will be launching in the New Year; please return to this webpage for any further updates.
